After reaching the end of yet another year at uni (and almost the end of my time there), I tagged along with Blackwater Valley Canoe Club (BVCC) for a trip along the River Wye.
As I no longer have much to do with my time (expect move out my old house), I decided to take an extra day off, and head across to the Black Mountains for a bonus day of cycling in the unusually sunny Wales. Getting almost 30 Km of cycling was well worth it for the last few miles of decent even if I did have a disagreement over the direction that my Mountain Bike should be going, and fell off scraping a lot of skin of my legs in the process.
As for the kayaking on the first day we paddled along the Wye to Symonds Yat in the big boats, with a bit the paddling being a bit more relaxed than the typical white water river I’m used to in this boat. Although having a boat that moves fast though the water is helpful when there is a lot less help from gravity than i’m used to.
For the second day, we got in just above Symonds Yat, and played in the rapids again before heading on down river and into Wales which is unusually Sunny yet again. Paddling all the way to Monmouth, where there was handily a pub to have lunch in before heading back to England.
